The Imperial Residence tour (55 min) is the classic visit through the palace of Charles IV. The Chapels tour (100 min, 16 people) is the one that reaches the Chapel of the Holy Cross — book it well ahead. The 180-minute Explore the Entire Castle tour for six people is arranged on request.
The basic guided tour: the palace halls, the Knights' Hall with St Nicholas' Chapel, the emperor's bedchamber and the first floor of the Marian Tower.
The exclusive tour: the Church of the Virgin Mary, St Catherine's Chapel, the Great Tower staircase and the Chapel of the Holy Cross with Master Theodoric's 129 paintings.
A three-hour, near-private tour for up to six people through every accessible part of the castle, including the floors above the Chapel of the Holy Cross. Arranged on request.
Reduced tickets apply to seniors 65+ and youth 18–24; children 6–17 have their own price and children under 6 go free on the Imperial Residence tour. Audio guides in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian and Japanese are available at the castle.

Getting there
Trains leave Prague's main station for Karlštejn every 30 minutes and take about 40 minutes. From the station it is a 25-minute walk through the village and up the hill; by car, park in the village and walk up 15 minutes. There is no vehicle access to the castle itself.
Access & comfort
The castle stands on a steep hill and the tours involve many stairs; neither is accessible to wheelchairs or pushchairs. Visitors with disabilities pay the reduced rate and a companion goes free.
